Alison was born in England, raised in Canada, and proud of it. She retains the distinct and endearing language characteristics of those regions and has educated us on the merits of McVities's digestives. Her design skills are just as strong as her opinions (think of Lucy from Peanuts). Alison has an undeniable passion for landscape architecture and all things design. She is a lover of the outdoors and bikes to work most days. She is also an avid hiker and camper. When she isn't working, you can find her in her beautiful garden which she lovingly tends. Alison recently added "new mom" to her resume with the birth of her daughter, Anna.
Since joining SSA in 2006, Alison has become an integral part of the team through her creative design and project management of large scale, high profile projects. She excels in communicating her ideas to clients and consultants through her exceptional hand renderings and technical drawings. Her responsibilities include site analysis, design, scheduling, document production, construction administration and public workshops. With 13 plus years of professional experience, her designs stand out within the landscape architecture profession and continually surpass our client's expectations. Alison has a Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of British Columbia. She is a licensed Landscape Architect.

Our office in Santa Cruz is in a great open studio space where our team collaborates on innovative and creative solutions for our clients with a high level of quality service. Our projects are located throughout California and have won national, statewide, and regional awards since SSA was founded 33 years ago. Our projects include parks and recreation, open space and trails, sports facilities, K-12 education, college campuses, corporate campuses, healthcare, public works and high-end residential.
Currently, we are recruiting for landscape designers and architects with four to six years of experience. Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, LandFX, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite experience and a bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture are the minimum requirements for the current positions. Applicants must have at least two years of experience working in the many microclimates of Northern and Central California.
