This 10 acre estate is located within Oak Woodland and Redwood Forest habitats on a Coastal Terrace in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The home was built in the mid-1980’s with a high water use tropical landscape design, that included turf, a swimming pool, and tropical plantings. SSA was selected to create a Master Plan for a more sustainable landscape. Less than 2 acres of the 10 acre site adjacent to the home were designed with native and drought tolerant landscaping and outdoor living spaces to replace the high water use landscape. The outdoor living spaces connect the homeowners to the land by blending into the native habitat of Oak Woodland in the front and sides, and the Redwood Forest to the north.
