These are Conceptual Renderings of Floral Park, an .85 acre neighborhood park on 38th Avenue in the unincorporated portion of Santa Cruz County. Beginning in the fall of 2007, SSA was hired by the Santa Cruz County Redevelopment Agency (RDA) to lead a design team of six consultants in the renovation of the park. The renovation includes a 200 square foot restroom, dog exercise area, playground, picnic and barbeque areas, and unprogrammed grass space.
The Floral Park project required a sensitive approach during the design process due to its proximity to neighboring homes, as well as other user conflicts. SSA has collaborated with Redevelopment Agency, Santa Cruz County Parks, Open Space and Cultural Services Department, the Planning Commission, and the local neighborhood committee. SSA is currently working with stakeholders to arrive at a design that meets the needs of the community and public agencies.
