SSA developed a landscape master plan and subsequent construction documents for this modern farmhouse style property located on five acres on the sunny south facing slope along Branciforte Creek in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The master plan provided an agrarian style landscape to complement the architecture. The landscape was laid out on a grid with a north-south access and included an olive orchard with olive trees relocated from the heart of Northern California's olive producing region with 35-year-old trees. An outdoor living room was created at the end of the olive orchard with concrete couches, a firepit, and pergola. The outdoor kitchen included a pergola over the dining table with heaters. The kitchen included a gas BBQ, limestone counters, and bar that serves people sitting on low stools while visiting and playing bocce ball. The swimming pool is also aligned on the same axis with the orchard living room and kitchen and includes a separate in-ground hot tub, automatic covers, pool decking made of sandstone tiles, and pool coping of custom-cut, matching sandstone. In the front yard, an intimate hidden natural area was created with a koi pond, waterfall, firepit and seating.
