In an effort to provide unsurpassed employee benefits, Cisco Systems hired SSA Landscape Architects as a consultant to help upgrade the sports facilities on their San Jose Campus. The existing facilities, which span 5 properties, consist primarily of basketball courts, sand & grass volleyball courts, and grass soccer fields. Through a systematic approach, SSA collaborated with Cisco staff, the site landscape maintenance team, as well as the recreation services team to identify the opportunities, constraints, and problem areas in the facilities; focusing primarily on maintenance, use-conflicts, and under-served user groups. Through careful site analysis, SSA was able to make design and maintenance recommendations for all 36 facilities. Furthermore, SSA saw opportunities to convert unused parking areas into large scale multi-sport complexes to better serve all employee needs. The site recommendations also included budgetary costs, construction timelines, establishment periods, and potential regulatory requirements.
